Community Windpower Camelford Carbon Neutral

The Carbon Neutral Project will run for 10 years with the intention to make Camelford and Davidstow ‘climate friendly’ and ‘carbon neutral’ within this period, thus reducing their carbon footprint to zero through a wide variety of carbon offsetting activities and projects. Community Windpower Ltd will provide start-up funding worth £100,000 and the windfarm will then donate a further £50,000 per annum for the next 10 years.

To achieve its aim, Community Windpower Ltd will open an energy advice shop 'Be Green' in the centre of Camelford which will be used as a base for Camelford Carbon Neutral as well as a contact and information point for Davidstow Community Windfarm.

A Community Trust run by members of the local community will also be formed, to manage funding and project activities which will also be based at the shop.

The overall aim of Be Green and Camelford Carbon Neutral is to raise awareness on energy consumption and thereby promote energy efficiency and carbon saving by offering advice and information on how to tackle these issues in the fight to combat climate change.

Community Windpower Ltd will work in conjunction with Community Energy Plus to help householders measure their carbon footprint and identify how they can reduce it, advice on grants and help with applications, and assist with the delivery of funding for energy efficiency measures such as loft and cavity wall insulation.
