PLEASE SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR DAVIDSTOW COMMUNITY WINDFARM (Ref: 2008/01432)

There are various ways in which you can show your support for the windfarm and encourage the Planning Committe to make a positive decision to approve its development. You can either:

  • Write to Simon King, the Senior Planning Officer at North Cornwall District Council at 3/5 Barn Lane, Bodmin, Cornwall, PL31 1LZ. For a blank, addressed letter please click here
  • Submit your comments/support online by visiting the Online Portal for North Cornwall District Council. Please remember to select 'Do not Object'.
  • Download and print our Signatures of Support Petition and get family and friends to support the windfarm. Completed sheets should be sent to Community Windpower Ltd, Godscroft Lane, Frodsham, Cheshire, WA6 6XU
  • Download and print our Letter of Support, fill it in and send to Simon King at the North Cornwall District Council address shown above. 

KEY STATISTICS

  • Davidstow Community Windfarm is proposed on the largest and best suited site in Cornwall.
  • A planning application has been submitted to North Cornwall District Council Planning Department, Reference 2008/01432.
  • Consists of 20 wind turbines with a total capacity of up to 50MW.
  • Typical turbine dimensions: 80 metres to the hub, blades 45.2m long and rotor diameter 92.5m (total height to tip is 126.25m).
  • Electricity generated will power approximately 28,000 homes, and by supplying the local distribution network will provide much needed electrical generation in the South West.
  • Over 113,000 tonnes of CO2 would be displaced every year, equivalent to 32,000 cars taken off the road in Cornwall.
  • The windfarm would contribute pproximately 50% of Cornwall's 2010 Renewable Energy target.
  • Davidstow Woods will be retained and enhanced along with improvements to access for recreational purposes.
  • Farming can continue right up to turbine bases.
  • Turbine locations have been designed to stand within abandoned taxi-ways and runways within Davidstow Woods.
