Davidstow Community Windfarm was approved by Cornwall Council on 13th October 2009.
A planning application was submitted to North Cornwall District Council Planning Department in 2008, Reference 2008/01432.
Further Supplementary Information was submitted to Cornwall Council in June 2009.
The proposal consists of 20 wind turbines with a total capacity of up to 50MW.
Typical turbine dimensions: 80 metres to the hub, blades 45.2m long and rotor diameter 92.5m (total height to tip is 126.25m).
Electricity generated will power approximately 28,000 homes, and by supplying the local distribution network will provide much needed electrical generation in the South West.
The windfarm would contribute approximately 50% of Cornwall's 2010 Renewable Energy target.
Davidstow Woods will be retained and enhanced along with improvements to access for recreational purposes.
Farming can continue right up to turbine bases.
Turbine locations have been designed to stand within abandoned taxi-ways and runways within Davidstow Woods.
