Current lifestyles are highly dependant on the power of electricity as everything we do, both at home and at work, relies on this instant power supply.
The traditional source of this electrical power is from fossil-fuelled power stations which burn coal, oil and natural gas, however all these types of fuels emit harmful emissions known as greenhouse gases into the earths' atmosphere during the generation process. Fossil fuels are non-renewable and so one day will run out as global demand for energy rapidly rises.
The dramatic increase in the concentration of greenhouse gases in our atmosphere over the last 50 years has lead to the acceleration of climate change. We cannot stop the effects of climate change, but we can influence the future and lessen their impact by:
- Reducing the amount of energy we use
- Reducing the amount of energy we waste
- Improving energy efficiency in our homes
- Installing and using alternative energy sources.
